Nymph Lake

I decided to drive up to Estes Park and from there to the Bear Lake Trailhead. Happily it was a free day at RMNP, so I saved the $20 entry fee. Undaunted by signs along the road stating "Bear Lake Parking Lot FULL," I continued onward, and upon arrival discovered it wasn't even close to full; maybe 60%. However, there were tons of people, many tourists who didn't expect snow, let alone ice. (Thank goodness for chains on my shoes!)
With the ice and the lateness of the hour, I decided to ascend only a half a mile or so to Nymph Lake. Some good views along the way. I see now on the topographic map that I could have done a loop. Ok maybe next time.
All in all, it's a tedious drive in slow traffic, but I'd like to try again another weekend and see the change in scenery.
