The Long Way Round
Sunday July 1, 2018 - Long Lake
Opening day at Brainard Lake, after the road had been closed most of the winter for repairs and construction. I bought a season pass, drove through the gate, and headed up the road. The east side of the lake had several open parking spots. From there, it's a 4.5 mile walk through the forest around Long Lake and back.
On the south side of Long Lake, a decaying moose skull rested, like a gigantic antlered Yorick. A quarter-mile later later, its skeleton collapsed in cairn of bones. Lots of people staring and taking pictures. I continued around the trail and back to the car.
Finished up with Chicken tacos at Happy Trails, Nederland.
