Gethsemane
Sunday, February 10, 2018 – St. Francis Trail, Superior
Trudged up the St. Francis Trail, in 35ºF and not-deep snow (3-4 inches), east from Lookout Point past a small plot of trees that I call Gethsemane, to an offshoot wending downhill to a mysterious unsigned water treatment pond, and on down to the Mt. Sopris pool. At this point, the options are to return home, or continue downhill to Starbucks (which adds two miles to the trek). I decided to return home and watch YouTube videos about getting back in shape (literally an uphill battle these days).
Ammonia sweat, tired quads, aching knees, pain in fingertips. Drinking pint after pint of water, all afternoon and evening, while the videos say to celebrate every successful workout, even if it’s a walk around the block, and keep going.
