South to North

Half Shanahan

Wednesday, April 24, 2019 — Shanahan South

Phase 1: With D out of town for a gonzo roadtrip, S soloed the Shanahan Ridge trails, wending south to north (in reverse order from the usual).

The South Fork trail starts downhill, passes a trailhead signpost at a social trail (frequented by bears, joggers, and anyone wanting to shortcut the loop), and continues to a junction between the South Fork and the Bluestem Connector trails.

The South Mesa trail system (and Boulder in general) has so many good options for loops of varying lengths, from challenging “side trips” up Fern or Shadow Canyon to Bear Peak, to short jaunts up and back, assuming one has the endurance and quadriceps to manage it all.

Phase 2: Home; pizza and whatever’s in the fridge.

Phase 3: Mochi. I forgot to make tea, but one of the mochi was green tea flavored, so that counts.
