Lost in McClintock

Wednesday, July 24, 2019 — McClintock Trail

Phase 1: McClintock from Chautauqua Auditorium.

Somehow the group ventured onto a side-trail (as they did last year). Fortunately, the McClintock trail intersects the Mesa Trail, which is like a highway (all paths lead to the Mesa Trail), so all was not lost. The group also found a patch of wild raspberries, ensuring the group’s survival, at least until some bear decides claim the raspberries.

Eventually the group found their way back to the Bluebell Trail, and down to the park.

Phase 2: Chautauqua Dining Hall.

Wedding parties hither and yon.

Phase 3: Glacier Ice Cream and Gelato.

Open until 10pm in the summer!

Questions of the Night

  • Why is Colorado so dry?

  • What’s the difference between ice cream and gelato?

  • How much does it cost to rent a cabin/bungalow at Chautauqua?

Image Note: the flowers at the top are Monarda fistulosa, aka wild bergamot, aka bee balm. The leaves smell like Earl Grey tea when crushed (though the flavoring in the tea is Citrus bergamia, a type of orange).
