For the Birds
Sunday July 29, 2018 - Long Lake
Phase 1: Spent 20 minutes photographing songbirds at Brainard Lake:
white-crowned sparrows (eating green gnats and tiny crayfish);
pine siskin, relatively fearless (foraging for algae and tender plants).
Then a 4.5 mile trek around Brainard and Long Lake. The moose head and skeleton of a few weeks ago were nowhere to be seen. Pleasant weather, if a bit hazy due to wildfire smoke.
Phase 2: Breakfast burrito at Happy Trails, Nederland.
Phase 3: Chai and cookie at New Moon Bakery.
