Nymph Dream
Monday, September 16, 2019 — Dream Lake
I decided to take a vacation day on Monday and drove up to RMNP, Bear Lake trailhead. It was surprisingly busy for a Monday, with signs along the way warning that Bear Lake parking was full. I decided to ignore the warnings and headed on up.
Lots of elk right alongside the road, along with tourists in elk-jams taking pictures. In some cases the elk were right alongside the road, at which point rangers stationed there kept tourists from getting too close.
Bear Lake had 10-20 parking spots available when I arrived. The bigger problem was the restroom situation, which is much improved from previous years. They have about 8 restrooms, each with a light above it indicating occupancy. It reminded me of a confessional, with rather long lines outside.
The trail seemed smooth and civilized, with people staying to the right side, up or down, in general. Good weather, clear views.
Nymph Lake was full of lily pads, much like Red Rock Lake at Indian Peaks. Dream Lake, 0.7 miles later, is quite scenic, with mountains at the west side.
I took a few pictures, hiked back down, and headed back home for dinner.
