Phase 1: Flatiron Vista
Our fearless fivesome set forth, this clear and windless Wednesday afternoon, upon the Flatiron Vista Trail, thus to celebrate what is now a traditional pre-Thanksgiving calorie reduction in preparation for the big feast. The group welcomed its newest intrepid explorer, C2 (aka Fortran).
A trail sign recommended proceeding counterclockwise around the loop, ostensibly to improve social distancing; this did not help much, since a lot of groups did an out-and-back rather than a loop.
The walk was hot in the sun, cool in the shade. A bit muddy on the eastbound return. Meanwhile the sun set behind the nearby Flatirons, while still casting a cheerful evening glow on the eastern plains.
There was one minor mishap as C2 discarded (or lost) a glove, which resulted in a rather cold hand. No complaints were issued or emitted, however, and he seemed content to chew on some nylon cord that anchored the sun shade to the pack frame.
Overall, another successful BNO.
