Phase 1: Bluebell Shelter
Our dauntless duo set forth this mild Wednesday to welcome the 2020 Humpday Season, with a traditional opening-day jaunt to Bluebell Shelter. The unseasonably warm weather was tempered by a chilly breeze as the twain trudged upward, past hikers, wedding photographers, and dog-walkers, along the decaying gravel/asphalt path to the Shelter.
Phase 2: Sherpa’s
A parking space at the end of the row welcomed the weary wanderers to the west side of downtown Boulder, just a hop and a skip from Sherpa’s. With a spin of the prayer wheel, our fearless foragers followed the host into the depths of the restaurant. And there they sat, wondering whether they’d spun the prayers backward and inadvertently cursed themselves with ill-fate and slow servers. Finally someone arrived, and, armed with an electronic contraption of some sort, tapped and swiped our selections through the mysterious ether, to the kitchen around the corner.
Shortly thereafter, our double-lettered selections arrived: naan, saag, daal, tikka. The chai, having no double letters, did not arrive.
We spun the prayers the opposite direction on the way out, just in case.
Phase 3: Trident
Trident was noticeably emptier this evening. Weirdly, the occupants of the tables on either side of us skedaddled when we sat down, as if we might be bad guys in a spaghetti western. So, with a wide margin of solitude, we researched the…
