Back to Bluebell
10 Jan 2024 Bluebell Shelter A blustery, frigid Wednesday, with wind chill probably around 10. Tedious winds blowing hither and yon, thanks to Boreas [1]. Nevertheless our fearless adventurers S and D made the best of it, walking up the road alongside yak-trax impressions and inverted footprints. It’s been a while since BNO visited the once-traditional season-opening destination of Bluebell Shelter, and high time they returned, wind or no.
Not many people out and about, despite the parking lot being 2/3 full. Perhaps everyone is soaring over the cloudy Flatirons, like lost kites searching for misplaced mittens and ski caps.
On descent, some discussion about various YouTube adventure channels, people living in vans, drone photos, etc. Something about math or computers, undoubtedly. And a tentative plan to meet again next week for another successful BNO.
Notes
Boreas (Βορέας), Greek god of the North Wind. The others are Zephyrus (West), Notus (South) and Eurus (East); collectively they are known as Anemoi, the wind gods. Zephyrus is familiar, as it’s mentioned in the Canterbury Tales prologue (Whan Zephirus eek with his sweete breeth…), but I hadn’t heard of the others; hence this note.
