Belts of Green and Glow

27 Dec 2023 Greenbelt Plateau Our fearless adventurers plodded off to the western edge of the prairie for a jaunt up and down the Greenbelt Plateau Trail. At the corner of Hwy 93 and 128 [1], this trail travels north thru open space pastureland, skirting private property and burrowing owl habitat.

The north wind made itself known from the outset, but our intrepid explorers steeled themselves and trundled onward.

Plenty of cowpies along the way, but no cows. A bird or two, somewhere in the distance. A few joggers, one of which noted that the air was suddenly colder after sunset.

Back at the trailhead, D noticed an electric box at the parking lot gate. This was apparently an electronic traffic counter; thus were our intrepid explorers counted among the multitude. S recalled that that a webcam purportedly monitors the parking lot, however on returning to the internet, he could find no such camera online. [2]

The evening concluded with a picturesque Belt of Venus across the eastern horizon, marking the end of a another successful BNO.

Notes

  1. The northeast corner, that is. The southwest corner has the Prairie/Flatiron Vista trails. The NW corner has nothing, and the SE corner has some distant windmills.
